The Rochester Lions Club will be offering a free vision screening to children ages 1-5 on Saturday, March 13th between 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. at the Rochester Hills Public Library located at 500 Olde Towne, Rochester, Michigan. This Healthy Child Screening Day event is sponsored by the Rochester Lions Club and the Friends of the Library.  Also available will be professionals to talk to you about speech & language, hearing & ear health and general issues in child development.

Project Kidsight is a FREE vision screening program offered by Lions Club volunteers to conduct vision screening sessions for preschool children.

The program is designed for children from ages one to five.  The goal of preschool vision screening is to prevent blindness through early childhood detection and referral.  The process is as simple as having the child's photo taken with the MTI Photoscreener camera and then the photo is sent for reading and reviewing to Children's Hospital of Michigan who work with Project Kidsight.   The photos can indicate whether eye disorders are present including far and nearsightedness, astigmatism, strabismus (misaligned eyes), anisometropia (unequal refractive power), amblyopia (lazy eye) and media opacities (i.e. cataracts).

This program is funded by the local Lions club and they help organize the local events and provide volunteers to assist at the event.
